I have to admit that I've never seen Cabaret. I guess I figured I pretty much knew the story from the pictures of Minnelli and Grey...and from your report, perhaps I was right. However i do love movies of the late 60s and 70s because i think film was emerging into an art in its own right and the acting was finally blossoming into a less stagey look and feel with the method actors and naturalistic style.

In particular, sound track music finally came into its own in a completely new way with The Graduate, Goodbye Columbus, M*A*S*H and most of all, American Graffiti. So have a care there Mr Len and tread cautiously with one of the all-time great comedy/musical score films. Now if we could only get "Happy Days" out of our heads...

Wow, Len...I'm not sure how I missed that you started a blog, but followed your link from FB today and started reading. This post is so particularly poignant to what is going on in my life right now. The total randomness of life is what I am referring to. I am coming up on the 10 year anniversary of my sister's death and I am still struggling to find a way to move beyond it in a way I am comfortable with. This "things happen for a reason" crap, just doesn't fly with me. Life is random and random shit happens.
I am getting to a better place now financially and feel like things are turning around for myself and my family.
I am glad to hear you are recovering well and taking those steps to be heart healthy. I am going to be embarking on that journey as well.
I remember a conversation we once had at lunch and now we are both back to work for companies. Isn't it funny how life circles back on itself?

I go along with your comments about "Network," the movie, but I long ago lost patience with folks who say there's nothing of value on TV. I once listed a half-dozen shows (not on normal broadcast TV, of course, but not premium channels either) including "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," " The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodward," "Weeds," "Mythbusters," "Portlandia," and the brilliant "Z Brothers"...to name just a few.

Anyone who whines about the emptiness of TV but has not seen these shows is blowing smoke up their own butt.

But I am going to be watching this with greater awareness because of you. Thanks, and glad to see you plan to be around for a long while:) XO
